Paria (means fairies) is the name of a poem by Ahmad Shamlu, an Iranian poet.
I am investigating symbolic colors, icons, figures, and poses, in these paintings using an emotional palette, intense contour lines, and expressive brushstrokes.
My content reflects the anxiety and emotions I have experienced along with millions of other Iranian women, under cultural, social, and political suppressions, that became highly visible at summer of 2009, in the media but have been pervasive for many many years.
Although these paintings are intended to stand alone, these images will also eventually be formatted into a folded, sequential book. The pages may be bond or configured into a structure that best enhances my intended content.
